"What is allowed"
**Store-bought cakes and cupcakes only** — the **only** outside food permitted at a booked party.
**Homemade is never allowed.** Simple reason: food safety. We need confidence the item was made in a **health-unit-inspected kitchen** we can trace if someone gets sick. That is the rule.
**Grocery store and warehouse club bakeries** (Loblaws, Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, etc.) are fine **with a valid receipt**.
**Cupcakes and cake from the same store** — **one receipt** is enough if it covers what you brought.
"Ice cream cake vs. ice cream"
**Ice cream cakes** — permitted with receipt.
**Standalone ice cream** (tub, cones, etc.) — **not permitted** as outside food.
"What the receipt must show"
Parents overthink this. We need an **original itemized receipt** that shows **what you purchased** — it should say **cake** or **cupcakes** on the receipt.
We do **not** need ingredients lists. For standard store bakeries we do **not** need health inspection paperwork — the receipt is how the health unit traces the product if there is ever an illness concern.
**Debit card receipts are not accepted** — we need a receipt that clearly shows the purchase item.
"What gets turned away most often"
- **Cake pops** - **Donuts** - **Cookies** - "Basically cake" items that are not cake or cupcakes
We also hear **allergy reasons** as pushback — we are not trying to ruin your party. Outside food rules exist for **allergy protection and food safety** across a busy family facility. Outside treats cannot be monitored the way our kitchen food can.
"No receipt at the door"
Cake **cannot be served without the receipt**. We will **hold it** until someone brings the receipt, or **turn it away** if that is not possible.
Forgot the receipt entirely? We offer a **mini cupcake platter** for purchase from our kitchen so the birthday child still gets a candle moment.
"Where cake can go in the facility"
Cake and cupcakes must stay in the **party room** — not the public eating area. When your **90 minutes** end, cake goes to your **vehicle**.
